After successful careers in both the medical lab and real estate industries, Dawn Reynolds discovered her true passion through an unexpected connection with DSC board member Beverly Klunk. What began as a real estate interaction led Dawn to Delta Sculling Center, where she was inspired by its mission to uplift underserved communities, veterans, and youth. Motivated to make a difference, Dawn transitioned from attending fundraisers to becoming an active board member, playing a crucial role in DSC’s continued growth and success.
Dawn’s passion for community building is evident in her commitment to the organization. “I’ve always wanted to give back in a meaningful way, and DSC gave me the perfect opportunity to do so,” she explains.
For Dawn, the impact of DSC is about more than rowing—it’s about transforming lives. The youth programs, in particular, hold a special place in her heart. “I love seeing kids who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to row find a sense of purpose and direction. I hope to see more of them earn scholarships and further their education through this sport,” she shares.
Her time on the board has also deepened her appreciation for the power of adaptive rowing programs, which offer veterans and individuals with disabilities the chance to connect with others and experience the healing power of the water. “It’s incredible to witness the impact DSC has on people’s lives, especially those who need it the most,” says Dawn.
Dawn admires the tireless energy and vision of DSC’s founder, Dr. Pat Tirone PT, DPT, Ed.D, calling her the “heartbeat of the organization.” She’s inspired by Tirone’s persistence, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making DSC an inclusive space for everyone. “Pat doesn’t understand the word ‘no’—she finds a way to make things happen, and that spirit drives all of us on the board to aim higher.”
Dawn also deeply admires and respects the dedicated DSC volunteers, whose tireless efforts and generosity form the very lifeblood of the organization, driving its mission and impact forward.
As for Dawn’s personal philosophy, she is guided by a simple yet profound mantra: “Leave things better than before.” Whether it’s through her role at DSC, her personal life, or her other interests, this philosophy keeps her grounded in her desire to make a positive impact.
For anyone considering joining or supporting DSC, Dawn offers this encouragement: “Come out and experience it for yourself. Whether you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community or just want to enjoy the water, DSC is a welcoming place with a lot of heart. You’ll leave feeling better than when you came.”
When Dawn isn’t at the boathouse or serving on the board, she enjoys cooking, wine tasting, and traveling with her husband, fully embracing the joys of family and adventure. As she looks toward the future, Dawn envisions even greater growth for DSC and the possibility of more lives transformed through the power of rowing, community, and connection.
