DSC Athletes Shine at Golden State Indoor Rowing Championships

DSC YOUTH AND MASTERS ROW STRONG AT GSIRC

Masters Show Strength, Spirit, and Sweet Celebrations at GSIRC

The Golden State Indoor Rowing Championships brought out the best of DSC’s Masters community this year: strong racing, loud support from the sidelines, and the kind of camaraderie that turns a long day on the ergs into something memorable.

Eight DSC adults took to the machines, representing the club with grit and good humor. First-time competitors Rohith and Adrienne made confident debuts, with Rohith earning a bronze medal and a well-deserved trip to the podium. Veteran racers Marie-Odile, Kate W, and Beverly delivered powerful performances across their events, showing the experience and determination that define DSC’s Masters squad. Adding to the energy were Christine and Megan, who came up as enthusiastic cheerleaders — and where it counted most, Megan coxed Marie-Odile through to a truly glorious finish.

DSC’s adaptive athletes once again demonstrated what focused, fearless racing looks like. Rachel and Gaby delivered strong, steady efforts, while Elise tackled the full 2K with determination and brought home a gold medal.

After the final races, several Masters rowers kept the tradition alive with a celebratory detour to Sacramento’s historic Japantown district. Their destination: Osaka-Ya, where soft, sticky, joy-inducing mochi provided the perfect reward after a day of hard pulls.

Delta Sculling Center (DSC) athletes traveled to Sacramento Feb. 7th to compete in the Golden State Indoor Rowing Championships (GSIRC) at the Sac State Aquatic Center. The event brought together rowers of all ages and experience levels, creating an energetic and competitive atmosphere. DSC was proud to have nine youth athletes along with eight Masters rowers, each demonstrating determination, sportsmanship, and strong performances across the board.

Nearly every DSC youth competitor achieved a new personal record, a clear reflection of their consistent training and growth throughout the season. Adding to the excitement, several juniors returned to the ergs later in the day to compete in one of the meet’s newest additions, the fast-paced 250-meter dash, embracing the extra challenge with confidence and enthusiasm.

This year’s championship also introduced a new Partner 1K event, and several DSC family members eagerly stepped up to compete alongside their athletes. Their participation reinforced what we witness every day at the boathouse: rowing is more than a sport; it is a shared experience that deepens connection, fosters pride, and brings families together.
