DSC Scrimmage Brings Together Youth and Adult Scullers For Fun on the Delta

What a way to finish Delta Sculling Center’s Fall youth after-school programs! Our November 4th scrimmage on the Deep-Water Channel brought together our junior and Masters (adult) rowers. Eleven youth and nine Masters scullers, including two para-rowers, raced their hearts out down the Deep-Water Channel in two 1 km races and one 500-meter event. For added excitement some finished their event rowing alongside a freighter headed to San Francisco and beyond. Cheering from parents and other well-wishers rang across the river as all the competitors approached the finish line.

This special event, followed by an awards celebration and brunch, could not have been such a success without the contributions of the Masters, DSC coaches, juniors’ parents and community members who are committed to Delta Sculling Center’s mission of making the physical, emotional and healing benefits of sculling equitably available to all.
