Youth Programs

Join the DSC Youth Sculling Crew Today!

Join Coach Jessica Andersen and the DSC coaching staff for recreational and competitive programs tailored for 6th to 12th-grade youth. Engage in practices after-school and weekends, and camps during the off-season. Experience fitness training on land and sculling on the water in single, double, and quad (4-person) boats. Compete in virtual and live indoor rowing championships, and compete in regattas that incentivize hard work and goal setting. We provide all the gear and equipment; just bring a good attitude and be ready to experience the awesome sport of rowing!

We Offer Three Youth Programs throughout the Academic Year . . .

  • Recreational Team The recreational team comprises youth in grades 6-12. Our rec program is designed for those who are new to rowing (novices). This program focuses on teaching the basics of the rowing strokes and fostering a positive team environment where all athletes are included.
  • Developmental TeamThe developmental team is made up of youth in grades 8-12. Our developmental program is designed for more experienced scullers and those who want to enjoy the water without the pressure of training for competition.
  • Competitive Team The competitive team consists of youth in grades 9-12. We train to compete in both water and land races, including the Southwest Regional Championships. This team is open to all high school-aged athletes with one or more seasons of rowing experience, as well as exceptional eighth graders.

If you are new to the sport, you have come to the right place! Spend focused time learning to scull with our  Youth Sculling 101 and Learn-to-Scull programs. Or, consider private or semi-private lessons that you can book to accommodate your own schedule.
